Norfolk Public Schools: Superintendent Steps Down
Breaking News for today: The Norfolk Public Schools Superintendent Stephen C. Jones has announced that he will retire in June, when his contract expires. While his official reason is to create more family time, one cannot help but wonder if he had some outside pressures. As I stated in an earlier post, I think that the recent controversies should be treated with the same urgency as that of HRT. Please do not get me wrong, he has been an excellent superintendent in the past. As such, he has done some great things with Norfolk’s school system. In fact, Norfolk has one of the best inner city school systems in the country thanks, in large part, to Mr. Jones. Despite past successes, I believe that no matter what your career, if you are in charge of something, you should step aside after a certain period to let new ideas into the arena.
