exactly

at least try to make a profit from it and use that for transportation AND filling the budget gaps. why aren't we in office? lol

no really, as u said Russ, food as well as lodging and of course the ultimate gas. when i go to Pittsburgh with my family, it's unbelievable how different the stops look compared to here. if it's one thing the Dems and Reps could agree on is this. new income source, 0 tax increase. Mcdonnell has to prove to be a positive influence or else it will be another session wasted.

that would be a good idea. Cuts costs in half if you only need one building for both directions.

you know, if the state regulated rest stop placement, I bet they could make a small fortune from privatization. Don't sell them, just lease them. They could expand them into truck-stop-type places with food, etc.

What we really need is to get Federal Law changed so that non-toll roads are allowed to have New Jersey style service areas (although I prefer Illinois Turnpike Oasis style myself - the building is in the middle of the road and newer ones are a thing of beauty)

yeah he does seem to be a straightfoward guy and not a BS'r like Kaine. i would just commend him for taking a stand for transportation vs just letting it be a side issue (like abortion or same sex marriage) so hopefully he will put this detailed plan to action. i for one hopes he (and others) pushes for privatizing rest stops.
